Cindy Kobei

IPARD Program Assistant Africa, Youth Engagement Focal Point

Cindy Kobei is a Lawyer and Indigenous woman from the Ogiek community in Kenya. Ms. Kobei has demonstrated experience working with local, national and regional organizations on Indigenous Peoples’ rights, climate policy, climate justice, youth empowerment, and women’s rights to address social issues and promote positive change.

Cindy is a 2022 Max Thabiso Edkins Climate Ambassador, part of the 2020 Cohort at the Global Leadership School of Indigenous Women, 2022 Cohort at the African Women’s Leadership Institute. Ms. Kobei also has a Certificate on Indigenous Peoples’ Rights and Policy from Columbia University. She is a holder of Bachelor of Laws from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology and Post Graduate Diploma in Law from the Kenya School of Law.  Cindy is an Indigenous Woman Climate Policy Fellow at Conservation International where she supports efforts on accelerating REDD+ in Kenya for equitable climate mitigation & benefits.
