Raised in the Tsimshian territories along the lower Skeena River in British Columbia, Satnam is a Registered Professional Forester passionate about forest climate and landscape solutions with over 30 years of experience. Formerly the Director of Forest & Ecosystem Services at Ecotrust Canada, Satnam led FSC initiatives and a pioneering carbon project with the Lil’wat, Squamish Nations, and the Resort Municipality of Whistler. With a background in Natural Resource Management and Environmental Planning, he is now key to implementing FSC Canada’s Indigenous Strategy, demonstrating the benefits of FSC certification to Indigenous Peoples, providing essential support to key First Nation certificate holders and other organizations interested in pursuing FSC certification in Western Canada, and working with FSC Canada’s Indigenous Chamber. He currently holds this interim role as the FSC Indigenous Foundation searches for a permanent candidate.
