Niila Inga

PIPC Representative for Europe

From the Sapmi People in Sweden, Niila Inga is a reindeer herder and chairman of the board of Laevas reindeer herding community. He is politically involved and has had assignments in municipal politics, the County Administrative Board, WWF, the mountain safety council of Sweden, and in Sámiid Riikasearvi where he was the president for one period. He was the project manager for The Saami Council´s three-year project “Filling the EU-Sápmi knowledge gaps.” He is also involved in several research projects together with, among others Umeå and Stockholm University, in questions related to climate change and extractive industries’ land use. Niila is the Permanent Indigenous Peoples Committee (PIPC) representative for Europe.
